Dubai Truck Ban Timings from 1 October 2026

Dubai's new truck ban timings have been in force since 1 October 2026. RTA (Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority) and Dubai Police announced them on 26 September: depending on the road, trucks are now banned all day, from 6 am to 10 pm, or during three daily peak periods. The announcement is about trucks and says nothing about private cars, but it does affect when you can book a removal van or a furniture delivery.

Dubai truck ban: when and where

Here is the RTA announcement (checked 10 October 2026) as a table.

The announcement does not say which bridges or tunnels "all crossings" covers.

Vehicle types and fines are not in the announcement

The announcement only says "trucks" and "heavy vehicles". It does not give a weight threshold, and it does not say whether pickups or small vans are included. Fines and Black Points are not mentioned either, and we could not find a fine for this ban on the Dubai Police or MOI (UAE Ministry of Interior) websites. So we are not quoting any amount here.

Companies that genuinely need to move trucks during banned hours can apply through RTA's website for the "Mobility Permit for Heavy Vehicles in Banned Times and Roads", handled by RTA's Right-of-Way (ROW) Department. RTA says this is for essential cases only.

What changes for car owners

  • Moving house or furniture deliveries: if you live along Sheikh Zayed Road or in Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah or Oud Al Muteena, trucks may not be able to reach you between 6 am and 10 pm.
  • Morning and evening traffic: the stated aim is to ease congestion and cut journey times.
  • If you use a small truck for business: the announcement alone doesn't tell you whether your vehicle is covered. Check directly with RTA.

What to do

  1. When booking a move or a large furniture delivery, ask the company about the delivery time slot and which roads they will use.
  2. If your address is on one of the roads or in one of the areas above, book a slot outside the ban hours early.
  3. If you use vehicles for business, confirm with RTA whether they are covered and whether you need a permit.

This is general information based on the announcement. For your own situation, please check with RTA or a professional.

Summary

Dubai's truck ban has applied since 1 October. There are three bands — all day, 6 am to 10 pm, and three times a day — and Emirates Road is exempt. The announcement doesn't specify which weights are covered or the fines. We will update this article if RTA publishes more.
